ABSTRAK
Saat ini teknologi fotografi telah berkembang pesat, mulai dari penemuan kamera obscura yang ditemukan oleh Leonardo da Vinci sampai penemuan kamera digital yang dikeluarkan oleh beberapa pabrik besar pembuat kamera. Seiring dengan hal itu peranan fotografi juga semakin luas, yaitu sebagai pendukung ilmu pengetahuan yang lain, seperti desain komunikasi visual. Dari sini timbullah istilah Fotografi Desain yang sering menjadi pertanyaaan di kalangan orang yang akan terlibat dalam jurusan Desain Komunikasi Visual. Pembahasan terdiri dari dua pokok bahasan, yaitu fotografi dasar dan fotografi desain.

ABSTRACT
At present, photography technology has grown rapidly. It began from invention of obscura camera, which was invented by Leonardo da Vinci, until the invention of digital camera, which are produced by camera factories. Together with this development, the role of photography become expanded, that is to support the other sciences, like visual communication design. From this case, the term design photography often become the question to those who are involved in department visual communication design. The dicussion consist of two sections, they are basic photography and design photography.

“Desa Informasi” or “Information Village” is the name adopted for the Local eContent (digital information resources with local flavor) development project being carried out in Petra Christian University Library.

“Desa Informasi” can also play an important role in preserving (at least) digitally local historical and cultural heritage, thus preserving the collective memory of a local society.

All Local eContent collections are available for everyone through the Internet for free. Some Local eContent collections are currently available in “Desa Informasi,” such as Surabaya Memory, Digital Theses, eDIMENSI, Petra@rt Gallery, Petra iPoster, and Petra Chronicle.
