ExplorARTion 40 Years Journey of Seni Rupa IKJ
Illustration Online Exhibition

IKJ baru setahun lalu membuka program studi – peminatan ilustrasi.

A year before its 40th anniversary, IKJ, one of the few arts school in Indonesia, start a program in illustration. One of the reason to open this program was the awareness that IKJ already give birth to many leading illustrators. In the early years, IKJ is very lucky to have the best illustrator as the facuty members that develop the graphic design course, such as Soebhakto, S. Prinka, Priyanto Sunarto, Wagiono Sunarto, and Tatang Ramadhan Bouqie. The result of those early years was the birth of IKJ’s first generations of illustrator such as Edi RM, Untarto Hartono, Susthanto,. Etc. The process continues until now. Names like Benny & Mice, Muh. ‘Emte’ Taufiq, Kendra H Paramitha, Alfi Zachkyelle, Bennos, and others are IKJ alumnies that well known in the medias as illustrator or visual artist.

This is really a “ teachers and students” exhibition – continuing process of inheriting a “drawing tradition” from the founders of IKJ to their students. This exhibition tries to trace that process through a display of artworks from the lecturers and alumnies of IKJ. Up until now, they continue to create and develop their concepts and techniques in illustrations, digitally or traditionally. We hope that this on-line exhibition could represents their spirit.
